The BCS system in College Football is a flawed system and nothing like it exists in Major North American sports. We must deal with ESPN/ABC et al. announcers and pundits having PSEUDO DEBATES about this scam each and every week. We have no choice because we all want to watch the games. They even discuss the scam during the games so there is no way to avoid it. This weekend I heard two announcers interview a BCS rep and explain to the viewer that it is a business decision at the end of the day. Matters such as whose fans can travel the best and fill a hotel were presented to the viewer as if they were remotely typical in terms of the spirit of American competition. What can you do as a fan? Simple: Refuse to have a discussion with anyone who brings up the BCS or "National Championship" race. Dismiss it. Do not engage. Do not opine on the top 5. Do not analyze the various schools in the "race". When we elaborate we make it legitimate. It is far from legitimate and closer to corrupt. Dismiss it. Rip it. Spread the word on it.
A more extreme approach below:
Do not legitimizes a flawed system by talking about the BCS "race". If a coworker asks your opinion, push them to the ground and say the following in a calm yet assertive voice: The playoffs, postseason,or finals of a sports league are a series of games played after the regular season by the top competitors,to determine the league champion or a similar accolade. The term and concept are most widespread in North America.
